I just recently went back to Deviant. A lot has changed there and I’m redoing my whole portfolio. I’ve add the top favorties to one of the pages on the right.
Check it out when you get the chance.

Well tonight was interesting I chilling at dad. Dad brought out a box that I thought was lost for a few years it contained a chain I had back in high school, a marble that my step father gave me when I was 15 and a pocket watch that was given to me in 99. We have done many shots and the night has gotten very weird. Dancing has began and it has gotten to the point of no return. We are all feeling happy, yet the night is coming to a close. The stench of cigarette smoke has conquered the room and well we are on our way out. I have captured many minutes of video to tell the story. I will post it in a few, I’m in my dads office typing the tale. I will produce the footage when I get home. Till then – Merry Christmas.
I got another camera today- yup now I own 5 . Its a Canon 630 – 6.0 megapixel camera – 3″ LCD screen on the back- its rocks
I hope everyone gets what they want this year!!
I am jumping back into shooting after a stale week. It’s my last week at my current job and also I have to finish my Christmas shopping. I’ve been dealing with bills and crap, stupid comcast wants more money as usual. Anyway, first time shooting someone from OMP, a amature model that wants to get into the business. She lives in West Chester and we with be shooting here at the studio and also around West Chester. I’d like to share a few stories about the industry and see exactly how interested she is. If she is excited enough to go further I can point in Monica’s or Cateias direction for more gigs. You have to start somewhere and I know I can give her a great portfolio. I just received an E-mail from a previous model here is what she wrote about her shoot:
Hi James,
“…I received the pictures last week and absolutely love them. Everyone does. I have never been this happy with my pictures before. Thanks a million and I hope to hear from you soon!”
Thanks,
Sang K.
Always great to hear. I’ll be shooting my best girlfriends family and separate portraits next week. I look forward to capturing all the different ages and compare the generations of Segermarks.
Ok I’m off to zone out – its been a very long day and I’m spent.
I called Cateia today asking her about the magazine cover shoot for tonight at the Raven Lounge. She talked to Amber and said everything was cool, so I hopped in the car and headed into Philly. I didn’t bring the major equipment, such as strobes or backdrops, just my main camera and variety of lens. I got there with the usual battle of traffic, yet a parking garage was convinently a few steps away. I walked in to find the place quite small, cozy and dark. One of the photographers was set up and waiting. I proceeded to the back to say hello to Cateia. She introduced me to Amber, a very attractive and sweet woman. I saw Rommel and Mylena walked in with some really nice funky blond hair in tight little curls. It looked great on her. I was just chatting with Rommel about his up coming shoot and me going to VA.
I got back to me bag and fired up the camera, after going upstairs and viewing the scene I could see that I was the fly on the wall photographer tonight. A little discouraged I shot the models as they were worked on and some of the people watching the shoot. I tried not to get in the way of distracting the girls as they were being shot, yet they looked at my camera a few times while that other guys were shooting. So I tried my best to get some shots in…
The models were quite attractive and unique in there outfits. Amber was dressed up as a New Years party-gal. Christmas tinsel was even used as a top for some of the girls.
I went upstairs to hang, watch some people dance, and then I went in to the bathroom. I just started “myspacing out” here are 2 of the pics.
Two hours had pass and Cateia was running around like crazy, as usual, yet I enjoy her personality and her work. I fired a few more pics and packed up my things. Before leaving I got to meet Sarah one the designers there, I have her card and will call her for some future gigs. I’m going to turn her on to Monica and the agency.
All and all, I had a few drinks, got to hang with some friends and met some new people in the process.
Well today turned out not to be such a boring day after all. I received a text message from Cateia that one of the pictures I took last month for a magazine shoot is actually going in to a magazine. Go figure. I’m excited that I finally have finally published work, a tear sheet no less. So that is very cool. Also I got some feedback back from Monica who is working to open her own modeling agency. We will be meeting soon to work out the details of the two other girls I have to shoot and the pictures she would like edited for the site. To top it off, I have been craigslist.com crazy these past months and a job finally took hold. The job falls once again in the tech field, working with e-commerce and site management. Pays more and is definitely better in the direction I’d like to go. Start small, get huge. SO -Tiff is craving shrimp so that is what our balance dinner shall be this evening. – later
So the time shows 2:44 on the clock and I haven’t done a thing today. Phone calls come rolling in and I’m thinking about the shoots I have coming up. I’m looking forward to shooting my brother, his wife, the cat and dogs… ahh Christmas – It was so funny last year, trying to get all of them to stay still. I was throwing a sock up in the air to grab there attention. John Paul held on Mia and Jen held Bella – LOOK AT THE CAMERA… after 40 -50 shots it got frustrating but snapped a nice one for 2005- Time is flying I’ll tell ya – I also have a shoot with Tiffany’s girlfriend Kelli – when is still up in the air. Kelli is turning 40 so she needs to capture her youth before it is gone, yet Kelli looks quite great for her age. Tiff and I have to shoot our Christmas picture, but a tree would be nice first.. maybe we’ll shoot outside at a park, at night, among the colorfully lit trees. I have to shoot Kim and her family Christmas eve eve.. That should be fun
– 56 mins left till I’m free from this place.
Hello one and all step right up and say a few words.
My name is James DiMeo and I currently live on the outskirts of Philadelphia. I’ve left my 20’s and have crossed over into the evil 30’s, with a smile more or less. Photography has bounced in and out of my life, yet it has stuck to me over the years and has become a huge part of my life.
It all started with a 110 film camera my mother gave my brother and I at the age of 6. We both would snap pictures, yet if the camera was loaded was always a mystery. We had a blast anyway composing shots and pretending that we were famous. In my teens I received my fathers old 35mm Mamya, a Pentax from back in the day; it was in Vietnam if I recall correctly – well actually his first camera was stolen right out of his car- so he had to buy this one….wow was that heavy! – I used it through college while collecting other camera such as the Canon AE-1 I got at a garage sale- I used it for a year then I ended up selling to a kid on EBay so that he could start taking pictures. it was pretty cool. Next I acquired a Minolta 35mm, with a 50mm macro lens, I have the bellows and all, the zoom lens – it is one of my favorite cameras to date.
My freshman year at WCU I became a staff photographer for the QUAD college paper and I got into as much trouble as a college kids could with a camera. During my 2nd year at West Chester University I became the photography editor, apparently my freshman days showed promise. I was now shooting with 35mm Canon Rebel… the latest tech of 1998 – lol Black and white film and working in the darkroom. I quite enjoyed the darkroom, yet it took long hours to get the pictures just right. Even though photography drove me as an art major, computers always held a special part in my life too, so the combination of two ignited a whole new world for me. Junior year we bought new computers a digital negative scanner and a zip drive. Our paper had jumped to the next level of technology. It was excited, yet at the same time I missed the darkroom and the personal satisfaction of get a picture just right. Time went on into my senior year; I got a job at the camera shop in King of Prussia. My education continued, I stepped down as the photography editor to focus on my studies. They bought their first digital camera that year. A Nikon- mega pixel or something….lol – Wow how times have changed.
I sold my Canon Rebel and left my job at the Camera shop to jump into corporate America. I had my trusty Minolta handy if I ever wanted to shoot in my free time. I moved away, and got lost in computers for a time, I didn’t make the time for photography and I regret that some much now, especially during those years during my twenties. I moved around a lot then, times got rough and they didn’t get any better each year that went by, I emotionally didn’t want to capture anything. My mother died from cancer and I sort of fell apart. I started taking long trips, random to Florida, up to the mountains to go skiing, and then I got on a plane and flew to CA. I went to buy a car – that is one hell of a story – one for another time – As for now, I live in a comfy house with my bride to be and my faithful doggie Arizona, I’ve converted part of our house into a studio and am slowly rebuilding my life in pictures. I’ve been shooting steady since 2003 and have my life documented in pictures – going strong and getting stronger.
I shoot a Canon 20D, and have a multitude of lens to compliment my shooting style. Always looking to upgrade yet, technology isn’t as slow as my college years…. I’ll get to a full frame soon enough… – If you have read this much – thanks its nice to have a ear. Please share your stories with me I’d love to hear them. Whether you are a model or a photographer I welcome your input and critique. If you have enjoyed the pictures in my portfolio please let me know. If you are in the PA, DE, or NJ area and would like to have pictures taken, drop me a line in the Schedule an Appointment section.
